Optimising a Bonus Engine to enhance competitive edge

Our client needed to optimise the interface and usability of their Bonus Engine product to help them maintain a competitive edge in the B2B sports betting platform market. 

Process

This optimised Bonus Engine project commenced with a thorough Discovery phase, devised to identify industry best practices. For this, we utilised a multifaceted approach to gather data, including primary research from demos of competitors’ products, desk-based research on wider UX/UI trends, and insights from subject matter experts within our industry network. This comprehensive analysis provided a contextual output that informed our design strategy. Using this insight, we transitioned into designing and creating clickable wireframe prototypes. These prototypes were designed with our client’s end users in mind. As such, we focused on illustrating key features and functionalities that would enhance the user journey for sports betting operators looking to offer bonuses and promotions to their players. To accommodate our client’s needs, we focused on designing the art of the possible based on our insight and research, rather than being limited by existing internal factors associated with the current product.  

Solution

We provided our client with a set of detailed clickable wireframe prototypes for an optimised Bonus Engine. These prototypes were designed using an industry-leading design tool, and incorporated a number of key features aimed at improving usability and operational efficiency. Notable enhancements included configuring a variety of bonus types, flexible eligibility criteria, defined allocation rules, advanced player segmentation, bonus settings, limits, and triggers, player messaging, and a robust performance tracking and reporting dashboard. Additionally, the designs ensured compliance with international regulatory standards, and provided operators with the necessary tools to manage bonus offerings effectively. The project also included an accompanying briefing document on bonusing guidelines, which was designed to assist our client’s development team in implementing the proposed new product features seamlessly. 

Outcome

Our client now feels that they’re better placed to develop a market-leading Bonus Engine product for their operator customers and end users. This, in turn, should enable these operators to significantly enhance player engagement and retention. By implementing these changes, our client will now be better placed in the rapidly evolving and competitive B2B sports betting platform market. Indeed, this project has laid the groundwork for ongoing enhancements and future scalability, ensuring that the Bonus Engine remains effective and competitive for both established operators and new market entrants alike.
